The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders (5-4) will go on the road on Saturday to face the Florida International Golden Panthers (3-7), who have lost four straight games. The Blue Raiders were able to easily shut out FIU 48-0 last season.

Two weeks ago, Middle Tennessee State was outscored 20-0 in the second half of their game against BYU and ended up losing 27-7. They turned the ball over twice in that loss and they finished with just 228 total yards.

The Blue Raiders do have a winning record right now, but their defense has struggled, giving up 31.3 points per game. Running back Reggie Whatley has averaged 6.7 yards per carry this season and has 546 yards with four touchdowns. Quarterback Austin Grammer has thrown for 2,012 yards with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

FIU gave up 525 total yards to Old Dominion last Saturday and was beaten 38-35 on the road. They lost that game despite rushing for 256 yards and converting eight of their 14 third down opportunities.

Through their first 10 games, the Golden Panthers have only been able to score 22.4 points per game. Their top offensive player has been wide receiver Jonnu Smith, who has caught 49 passes for 55 yards and five scores. Freshman quarterback Alex McGough has completed just 48.9 percent of his passes for 1,393 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
