On Saturday afternoon, the Michigan Wolverines (5-6) will be visiting the #7 Ohio State Buckeyes (10-1) in a game between two very strong defenses from the Big Ten. The Buckeyes were able to beat the Wolverines 42-41 on the road last season.

Michigan had their two-game winning streak snapped last weekend when they lost 23-16 to Maryland at home. Their defense did well to hold Maryland to just 312 yards, but they were unable to force a turnover in the losing effort.

The Wolverines have played poorly on offense this season, but their defense has done well to hold opponents to just 20.6 points per game. Quarterback Devin Gardner has not had a good season this year, throwing for 1,663 yards with just eight touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Running back De'Veon Smith has averaged 4.9 yards per carry and has 515 yards with six touchdowns.

Ohio State has now won nine consecutive games after easily defeating Indiana 42-27 on their home field. They did have three turnovers in that game, but they also were able to gain 527 yards against Indiana's defense.

The Buckeyes have rushed for 259.6 yards per game this season and are fifth in the country in scoring with 44.3 points per game. Quarterback J.T. Barrett has been their top player by throwing for 2,658 yards with 33 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions.
