In what may be the last game between these two rivals for a long time, the Michigan Wolverines will visit the #16 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday night. Notre Dame beat the Wolverines in Michigan last season by the score of 41-30.

Michigan took care of business against Appalachian State in their opening game by winning 52-14 at home. The game was pretty much over at halftime, as the Wolverines were up 35-0 after two quarters. They had 560 total yards in the game and their defense was able to hold Appalachian State to just 280 yards.

Wolverines quarterback Devin Gardner completed 13 of his 14 passes in the win for 173 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Running back Derrick Green carried the ball 15 times for 170 yards and a score, while De'Veon Smith had 115 rushing yards and two scores.

Notre Dame had a bit of a slow start to their game against Rice over the weekend, but from then on they played well on both sides of the ball and ended up with a 48-17 home win. The Fighting Irish put up 576 yards in the win, including 281 rushing yards. They forced Rice into making two turnovers without committing a turnover themselves.

After a year layoff, Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson came back better than ever by throwing for 295 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for three more scores.
