On Saturday night, the highly-rated defense of the #7 Michigan State Spartans will go up against the #3 Oregon Ducks, who have one of the best offenses in the country.

Michigan State scored 38 first-half points against Jacksonville State in their opener and eased their way to a 45-7 victory. The Spartans had 565 total yards in that win, including 211 yards on the ground. They also forced Jacksonville State into turning the ball over three times without committing any turnovers themselves.

Junior quarterback Connor Cook completed 12 of his 13 passes for the Spartans for 285 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. His top target was receiver Tony Lippett, who caught four passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Nick Hill rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns.

Oregon put up 673 yards of offense against South Dakota last Saturday on their way to a 63-13 win. They averaged 7.7 yards per rush in that game and ended up running for a total of 293 yards. The Ducks did commit nine penalties, but they made up for it by converting seven of their nine third down opportunities.

Heisman hopeful Marcus Mariota was once again Oregon's top player by passing for 267 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 43 yards and another score. Wide receiver Byron Marshall caught eight passes in the win for 138 yards and two touchdowns.
