The #12 Michigan State Spartans (7-2) will take their potent offense on the road to face the Maryland Terrapins (6-3) on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans are currently second and third in the Big Ten East, respectively.

Michigan State suffered their second loss of the season last Saturday when they were beaten 49-37 by Ohio State on their home field. Their defense couldn't stop the Buckeyes in that game, giving up 568 total yards.

Through their first nine games, the Spartans are sixth in the nation in scoring with 44.6 points per game. Junior quarterback Connor Cook has thrown for 2,226 yards this season with 19 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Cook's top receiver has been Tony Lippett, who has caught 47 passes for 953 yards and nine touchdowns.

Two weeks ago, Maryland scored 13 fourth-quarter points to come back and beat Penn State 20-19 on the road. They only had 192 total yards in that one, but their defense did well to force four Penn State turnovers.

The Terrapins have been able to win six games so far this season despite giving up 28.1 points per game. Their best offensive threat has been wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who has caught 52 passes this season for 654 yards and five touchdowns. Quarterback C.J. Brown has 1,477 passing yards with nine touchdowns, and he is the team's leading rusher with 380 yards and five more touchdowns.
