The high-scoring offense of the BYU Cougars (8-4) will be taking on the solid defense of the Memphis Tigers (9-3) in the Miami Beach Bowl on Monday afternoon. Both teams are coming into the game on long winning streaks.

Three weeks ago, BYU finished off their regular season with a 42-35 victory over California on the road. They had 540 total yards of offense in that win, including 433 yards through the air.

Through 12 games, the Cougars have one of the top 20 offenses in the country by scoring over 36 points per game. Quarterback Christian Stewart has had a good season by throwing for 2,273 yards with 22 touchdowns and just six interceptions. Stewart's top target has been wide receiver Mitch Mathews, who has caught 64 passes for 840 yards and eight scores.

Memphis ended their regular season on a six-game winning streak after blowing out Connecticut 41-10 at home on November 29. Their defense was excellent in that game, giving up just 269 total yards and forcing two turnovers.

The Tigers have scored 34.7 points per game this season while only allowing their opponents to score 17.1 points per game. Their best offensive player has been quarterback Paxton Lynch, who has 2,725 passing yards on the year with 18 touchdowns and only six interceptions. Running back Brandon Hayes has 900 rushing yards with five scores.
