Both the Massachusetts Minutemen and the Vanderbilt Commodores will be looking to pick up their first wins of the season when they face each other on Saturday afternoon. The Commodores beat the Minutemen 24-7 on the road last season.

Massachusetts played in a tight game with Colorado last week, but their defense simply couldn't make any key stops and they ended up losing 41-38. UMass was only able to gain 104 yards on the ground in the loss, and they also converted just five of their 15 third down attempts.

The Minutemen did get good quarterback play from Blake Frohnapfel in that game against Colorado. He completed 20 of his 38 passes in the loss for 267 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

Vanderbilt will try to quickly put their game against Mississippi out of their minds after being dominated 41-3 last weekend. The Commodores only gained a total of 167 yards in that game, including just 60 yards through the air. Mississippi passed for 367 yards and rushed for 180 yards against the Vanderbilt defense.

The only player on the Commodores who had a decent game in their week 2 matchup was running back Ralph Webb, who rushed for 95 yards on 18 carries in the losing effort. Quarterback Stephen Rivers only completed six of his 25 passes for 60 yards and an interception in that game.
