The Miami Hurricanes (6-6) will be hoping to end their season with a win on Saturday afternoon when they go up against the South Carolina Gamecocks (6-6) in the Independence Bowl. Both teams got into a bowl game despite going 3-5 in their respective conferences.

Miami ended their regular season on a three-game losing streak after Pittsburgh beat them 35-23 in late November. The Hurricanes did have 421 yards in that loss, but they also allowed Pittsburgh to rush for 226 yards.

The Hurricanes were able to pass for 251.1 yards per game this season and averaged 29.9 points per game. Their top offensive player this season has been running back Duke Johnson, who has 1,520 rushing yards on the year with 10 touchdowns. Wide receiver Phillip Dorsett has only caught 31 passes this year, but those receptions have gone for 826 yards and nine touchdowns.

South Carolina ended their regular season with a 35-17 blowout loss to Clemson on the road. They had just 63 rushing yards in that game while their defenses allowed Clemson to rack up 491 total yards against them.

In their 12 regular season games, the Gamecocks were in the top 25 in passing by throwing for 281.4 yards per game. Senior quarterback Dylan Thompson has completed 59.1 percent of his passes this season for 3,280 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
