After their rough showing last week against Akron, the Howard Bison will have to step up their game if they want to beat the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday afternoon. Rutgers and Howard last faced each other in 2012 in a game the Scarlet Knights won 26-0.

Howard were blown out 41-0 by Akron on the road last Thursday in a game where they could only muster a total of 216 offensive yards. They only gained 68 yards on the ground and their defense allowed 513 yards, including 396 passing yards. The Bison were converted just three of their 18 third down attempts in the loss.

Howard quarterback Greg McGhee didn't throw an interception in that game against Akron, but he only completed 12 of his 26 pass attempts for 68 yards. Running back Terrence Tusan rushed for just 3.3 yards per carry in the game and his longest run was just nine yards.

Rutgers played in a tight game against Washington State on the road last week and ended up coming away with a big 41-38 win. They rushed for 215 yards in that game while holding Washington State to just six total rushing yards.

The Scarlet Knights' best player in that win was running back Paul James, who had 29 carries for 173 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Leonte Carroo had six catches for 151 yards and one score.
