The Houston Cougars (6-4) will be going on the road on Friday afternoon to face the winless Southern Methodist Mustangs (0-10). During the 2013 season, the Cougars were able to shut out the Mustangs 34-0.

Houston has now won four out of their last five games after beating Tulsa 38-28 last Saturday at home. They had 246 rushing yards in that win while their defense was able to force three Tulsa turnovers.

The Cougars have a top 15 defense right now by only giving up 18.7 points per game. Running back Kenneth Farrow has been able to rush for 686 yards this season, and he has nine touchdowns in 10 games. Quarterback Greg Ward Jr. has 1,230 passing yards this year with seven touchdowns and five interceptions.

SMU's struggles continued last Saturday when they were blown out 53-7 by UCF on the road. In that game, the Mustangs only had 116 total yards and they also turned the ball over five times.

The Mustangs have been one of the worst rushing teams in the nation this season by only being able to pick up 84.9 rushing yards per game. Current starting quarterback Matt Davis has thrown for just 565 yards this season with two touchdowns and four interceptions. Running back Matt Davis has 352 rushing yards so far this season and he leads the team with three touchdowns.
