The defending champion Florida State Seminoles will have a tough opening test when they face the potent offense of the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Florida State were expected to be good in 2013, but not many expected them to go 8-0 in the ACC and 14-0 overall. They scored 51.6 points per game, which was good enough for second in the nation, and their defense finished first in the FBS by only giving up 12.1 points per game.
Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston will once again have the responsibility of leading the Seminoles' offense. They lost a couple of their top defensive talents to the NFL draft, but highly-rated defensive end Mario Edwards will be back to lead the unit.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys had a top 15 offense and a top 20 defense on 2013, which helped them to finish with a 7-2 record in the Big 12 and a 10-3 record overall. Much of their success came down to having a team with plenty of experience, which is why they come into the 2014 season having lost 28 players from last year's roster.
Oklahoma State recruited well on both sides of the ball and should have a good mix of experience and youth throughout their offense and defense. They have a young offensive line, but quarterback J.W. Walsh's mobility and throwing arm should help them move the ball this season.
