The East Carolina Pirates will get a chance to see if their solid offense can do anything against a tough opponent on Saturday night when they face the #21 South Carolina Gamecocks. These two teams last played each other back in 2012 in a game the Gamecocks won 48-10.

East Carolina opened up their season last Saturday with a dominant victory over North Carolina Central. They were able to gain 582 total yards in the win and held NC Central to only 174 yards, including just 70 yards on the ground.

The Pirates were led by quarterback Shane Carden, who had 283 passing yards in the game with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Wide receiver Isaiah Jones caught 10 passes in the win for 150 yards and one score, while Justin Hardy had eight catches for 87 yards and a touchdown.

South Carolina may have come into the season as a top 10 team, but they were dropped far down the rankings after getting crushed 52-28 by Texas A&M in their opening game. The Gamecocks gained 433 yards in the loss, but their defense gave up 680 yards, including 511 through the air.

Gamecocks quarterback Dylan Thompson had a good game despite the loss, throwing for 366 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Nick Jones had five catches in the game for 113 yards and two touchdown receptions.
