The Buffalo Bulls, who had their best season since joining the FBS 14 years ago, will take on the Duquesne Dukes on Saturday in each team's opening game.
After playing two ranked teams to start their year in 2013, Buffalo followed that up with seven consecutive wins before finishing the season with a 6-2 record in the MAC and an 8-5 record overall. They were beaten in the Potato Bowl by San Diego State, but they had to still be very pleased with their season.
The Bulls will be bringing back all five of their offensive linemen from last year's team. Junior quarterback Joe Licata, who passed for 2,824 yards and 24 touchdowns a year ago, will be back to lead Buffalo's solid offense.
Duquesne lost two of their first three games in 2013, but they won six of their final eight to finish with a 7-4 record and a 4-2 mark in the Northeast Conference. Had they not lost to Sacred Heart during the season, they would have finished first in the conference.
The Dukes will be coming into this season as one of the favorites in the Northeast Conference because they will be bringing back seven offensive starters and nine on the defensive side of the ball. One of those players returning is sophomore quarterback Dillon Buechel, who threw for 2,569 yards and 14 touchdowns as a freshman.
