The Cincinnati Bearcats (2-3) will attempt to snap their three-game losing streak when they face the Southern Methodist Mustangs (0-5) on Saturday afternoon. In 2013, Cincinnati beat SMU 28-25 at home.

On Saturday, Cincinnati lost their third game in a row when they were beaten 55-34 by Miami (FL) on the road. Cincinnati's defense gave up a whopping 621 total yards in that loss and their offense turned the ball over three times.

The Bearcats' offense has been able to average 33.8 passing yards per game, but their defense has let the team down by giving up 40.8 points per game. Quarterback Gunner Kiel has 1,816 passing yards this season with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions. Linebacker Jeff Luc is 12th in the nation in tackles with 66 tackles and he has two sacks.

In their last game, the SMU Mustangs scored more points than they had all season, but they still ended up losing 45-24 to East Carolina. SMU's defense gave up 581 yards in that game, including 410 yards through the air.

Through five games, the Mustangs have scored just 7.2 points per game, which ranks them dead last in the FBS. SMU's top running back Kevin Pope has only rushed for 102 yards on 33 carries this season. Wide receiver Darius Joseph has caught 21 passes for 164 yards and has scored two of the team's four touchdowns.
