The Florida Gators (6-5) will try to end their disappointing season on a high note when they go up against the East Carolina Pirates (8-4) in the Birmingham Bowl on Saturday afternoon. The Gators haven't won a bowl game since 2011, while the Pirates were able to win the Beef O'Brady's Bowl last season.

Florida was able to win two out of their games outside of the conference this year, but they won just four of their eight SEC games. They came close to upsetting Florida State in their final regular season game, but they ended up losing 24-19 on the road.

The Gators were able to score 30.5 points per game this season while holding their opponents to 21.2 points per game. Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has been one of their better offensive players by catching 47 passes for 774 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns.

East Carolina had multiple big wins early on in the year, but they did end up losing three out of their last five games. Their regular season ended with a tough 32-30 loss to UCF to hand them a share of the American Conference title.

The Pirates are going into their bowl game as one of the top passing teams in the nation after averaging 367.3 passing yards per game during the regular season. Senior quarterback Shane Carden had a very good season by throwing for 4,309 yards with 28 touchdown passes and just eight interceptions.
