Monday, July 1, 2019
Mosaic Stadium
Zach Collaros and the Saskatchewan Roughriders (0-2, 5th in the Western Conference) host the Toronto Argonauts (0-1, 4th in the Eastern Conference) at Mosaic Stadium on Monday, July 1, 2019. Saskatchewan opens this game as 12.5 point favorites. The over/under has been set at 54.
The Toronto Argonauts currently sit in last place in the East division after having lost the only game they've played thus far to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats by a score of 14-64. It is pretty safe to say that the Argonauts were never able to get anything going this game and they conceded a hefty amount of points. They were shredded through the air by Jeremiah Masoli who threw for three touchdowns and racked up 338 yards.

Quarterback James Franklin had a rough day with 211 yards through the air on 16-of-26 passing and he threw one interception. He was harassed all day and was eventually replaced by McLeod Bethel-Thompson who threw for 99 yards on 9-of-16 passing with one touchdown and one interception. Armanti Edwards led the Argos with 73 yards via 4 catches and a touchdown. Llevi Noel also had a 71 yards and 7 catches. The run game left much to be desired as James Wilder Jr. couldn't get going. He finished the game with 12 yards on 6 carries and after the Argonauts went down big, they had to go away from the run game.
The one bright spot on the defense was Abdul Kanneh with 5 tackles and an interception. Outside of that, it was a rough day for the defense. Kevin Fogg was busy returning kicks with 6 of them for a total of 115 yards while Drew Brown added to the score going 2-for-3 with a long of 43 yards.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are having a start to the season that they would like to forget by putting a win on the board this week. Their last game was against the Ottawa Redblacks in which they lost a tight one by a score of 41-44. It was a tough pill to swallow and the only remedy for that kind of loss is to get back out there as soon as possible and get in the win column.
The Roughriders were led by their quarterback, Cody Fajardo, who ended the game with 360 yards and 2 touchdowns by way of 27/34 passing. He also ran for a TD in this game. Fajardo spread the ball around with eight different receivers coming away with a catch and they were led by Kyran Moore and Shaquelle Evans. Moore had 5 catches for 117 yards giving him an average of 23.4 yards per catch. Evans walked away with 7 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown. The second touchdown pass was caught by Marcus Thigpen on his lone catch for 19 yards. The running game was played by committee while Marcus Thigpen led the way with 57 yards on 9 carries. He ended the game with a 6.3 average and a rushing touchdown.
The defense has had better days and they'll look to bounce back in this coming up contest. Against the Redblacks, Cameron Judge led the team in tackles with 8 of them while Charleston Hughes notched 4 tackles and 2 sacks. As a team, the Roughriders earned 4 sacks.
For special teams, Brett Lauther had a long kick of 57 yards which was one of the two kicks that he converted on the night.
With Toronto looking like they are pretty far away from being contending team, we expect the Roughriders to score a lot of points. It's not out of the questions that the Argos pull this off but we feel the Roughriders have a little more momentum coming into this game.
So who will win tonight's CFL game against the spread?
