Montreal Alouettes Stats
Antonio Pipkin looks like he'll get the nod at QB for Montreal. He impressed the Alouettes with how he finished last season, going 8 for 15 for 217 yards and a touchdown in their final game. Even if he starts the season at Quarterback, don't be surprised if they switch it up quickly if he struggles out of the gate. William Stanback is back for Montreal in the running game after being a dual threat last year. He averaged 6.7 yards per carry on the ground and added 313 yards receiving. He'll get more of the share this season, so look for him to be a big contributor. Montreal signed DeVier Posey to be one of their main targets through the air. He spent part of 2018 with BC after trying to catch on with the NFL's Baltimore Ravens. He is an explosive athlete and should help the young QB's ease into things.
The Alouettes were 7th in the league in yard per game last season, averaging 745.2. They were worst in the league in passing offense, averaging only 215 yards per contest. Their rushing game was the most consistent part of the offense, finishing 5th in the CFL with 101.5 yards averaged per game.
Edmonton Eskimos Stats
Edmonton made a splash in the offseason by signing Trevor Harris to a $1.1 million contract in February. Harris led the Ottawa Redblacks to the Grey Cup last season, finishing with 5,116 yards and 22 touchdowns. The 6'3' signal caller should be an immediate boost to the Eskimos offense. C.J. Gable returns to Edmonton after finishing with 112 yards in the season finale win over the Blue Bombers. He finished 2018 with over 1,000 yards on the ground, so he is a key man to watch in this offense.
Edmonton was 5th in the CFL in 2018 in total offense, averaging 815.4 yards per game. They were 1st in the CFL in passing offense, averaging 311.4 yards per contest with 30 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. The Eskimos finished 4th in the league on the ground with 103.6 yards per game and 21 rushing TDs.
