Ottawa Redblacks Stats
Ottawa played an excellent all-around game against Hamilton to punch their ticket to the Grey Cup. They put up 457 yards of offense, including 367 yards through the air, and they only committed one turnover in the game. Their defense was also solid, picking off Hamilton quarterback Jeremiah Masoli three times and knocking down three key passes.
Ottawa quarterback Trevor Harris, who threw for six touchdowns in that Eastern Final game, will be counted on again to put up big numbers if Ottawa wants to win this game. The team will also rely heavily on All-Star running back William Powell, who rushed for 1,362 yards during the regular season while averaging 5.4 yards per carry. The top receiving threat for the Redblacks will be Brad Sinopoli, who caught 116 passes for 1,376 yards and four touchdowns during the regular season.
On defense the Redblacks will be counting on defensive end A.C. Leonard to have a big game after he was able to come up with 50 total tackles, six sacks, and three forced fumbles during the regular season. They also have one of the best defensive back pairings in the league in Derico Murray and Jonathan Rose, who both came up with five interceptions this season.
Calgary Stampeders Stats
Calgary was able to make it to their third consecutive Grey Cup by controlling possession and playing stout defense against Winnipeg last week. They only gave up a total of 262 yards in that game while also forcing 10 penalties and coming up with three team sacks. The offense wasn't as strong, but they did a good job of limiting penalties and they only had one turnover in the win.
The Stampeders will be led by All-Star quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, who was excellent during the regular season by throwing for 35 touchdowns and only getting picked off 14 times. Another player to watch in this game will be wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, who caught 50 passes during the regular season for 747 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns.
The two top stars on the Calgary defense are linebacker Alex Singleton and defensive tackle Micah Johnson. Singleton made the All-Star team thanks to having the most tackles in the league (123) and he also forced two fumbles. Johnson was one of the top pass rushers in the CFL, finishing second in the league in sacks with 14 while also coming up with one interception.
