Hamilton Tiger-Cats Stats
Hamilton is currently averaging about 28 points per game while only giving up about 22 per game. They lead the CFL with 1,045 passing yards and they are also at the top of the league in possession time by holding on to the ball 33.4 minutes per game. Their defense has been very active too, leading the league with 10 pass knockdowns and also coming up with four turnovers. The Tiger-Cats' resurgence this season has a lot to do with the play of quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, who has completed over 70 percent of his passes and currently leads the league in passing yards. Wide receiver Luke Tasker has also been excellent, catching 16 passes for 230 yards and a team-high two touchdown receptions. Running back Mercer Timmis has been able to average 5.5 yards per carry on the young season and is tied for the CFL lead with four rushing scores.
On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Larry Dean has been very solid by picking up 18 total tackles and knocking down three passes. Fellow linebacker Simoni Lawrence has also had a good start to the year by picking up 15 tackles to go along with a sack. Defensive backs Richard Leonard and Cariel Brooks are the only two Tiger-Cats with interceptions so far this year.
Saskatchewan Roughriders Stats
Saskatchewan has been trying to find its quarterback through its first three games, which is one of the reasons why they have struggled to score so far. They have just 61 total points this year and they lead the league in turnovers with nine already. Their defense has looked even worse as they currently rank near the bottom of the league in points against, though they have been able to come up with six team sacks.
The guy who looks like he might take over the quarterback position for the Roughriders is Brandon Bridge, who has thrown for 256 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Their top receiver has been Naaman Roosevelt, who has caught 12 passes for 129 yards and two scores, though he probably should have much more than that after being thrown to 25 times in three games. Running back Jerome Messam has only been able to pick up 100 yards on 28 carries this year and he has yet to reach the end zone.
Saskatchewan's top defensive player has been third-year linebacker Samuel Eguavoen, who leads the team with 16 total tackles and he has forced one fumble. Veteran defensive lineman Charleston Hughes has also been solid, picking up seven tackles and bringing down the quarterback four times.
