Hamilton had a pretty easy semi-final game against the BC Lions thanks to their high-flying offense and their stout defensive play. Their offense was able to put up 450 yards, including 336 yards through the air, and their defense was able to come up with six interceptions. Their defense also did a great job of getting to BC's quarterbacks, finishing the game with four team sacks.

The Tiger-Cats were successful during the regular season thanks in large part to quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, who finished the year with 5,209 yards, 28 touchdown passes, and two rushing scores. Wide receiver Brandon Banks also made the All-Star squad by having the best season of his career, finishing with 94 catches for 1,423 yards and 11 touchdowns. Fellow wide receiver Luke Tasker is another threat on this team after catching 78 passes for 1,104 yards and 11 scores.

No team in the CFL had more All-Star representatives than Hamilton on the defensive side of the ball. Among their five defensive All-Stars is linebacker Larry Dean, who finished the season with 106 tackles, two interceptions, and one touchdown. Another player that Ottawa will be very worried about is defensive tackle Ted Laurent, who has 20 tackles and eight sacks during the regular season.

Defensive tackle A.C. Leonard was very solid for the Redblacks' defense this year as he was able to come up with a team-high six sacks to go along with 50 tackles and three fumble recoveries. Cornerback Jonathan Rose is also a feared player on Ottawa's defense after he was able to pick up 45 tackles, five interceptions and one forced fumble. The team's leading tackler during the regular season was defensive back Corey Tindal, who had 73 tackles as well as two sacks.
