Edmonton Eskimos Stats
Edmonton has had some struggles on defense, but their offense has been consistently near the top of the rankings since the beginning of the season. They are currently third in the league in scoring with 128 points and they also happen to have the top passing team. Defensively they are around the middle of the standings in most categories, though they are third in the CFL in interceptions with six.
Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly, who was the CFL Player of the Month in June, has completed 67.6 percent of his passes, has thrown for 1,648 yards, and he has nine touchdown passes. Reilly's top receiver has been D'haquille Williams, who has caught 31 passes for 556 a league-high 556 yards and he's scored three times. Fellow receiver Derel Walker has also had a good start to the year, catching 27 passes for 386 yards and three scores.
Edmonton's defense has been led by veteran linebacker J.C. Sherritt, who has a team-high 26 tackles and he also has one interception. Second-year running linebacker Christophe Mulumba-Tshimanga has 22 total tackles and two sacks, while six players share the team-lead in interceptions with one pick apiece.
Montreal Alouettes Stats
The Alouettes find themselves with the worst record in the CFL mostly because of their inept offense, but their defense hasn't been great either. On offense, they are the lowest scoring team in the league with just 69 points, and they are also at or near the bottom of the league in passing yards, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and time of possession. Their defense has given up the most points in the league and they have the least amount of sacks with just six.
Drew Willy has been Montreal's top-performing quarterback this year by throwing for 566 yards with three touchdowns and just one interception. The team's top receiver has been BJ Cunningham as he's been able to catch 21 passes for 251 yards and two scores. Running back Tyrell Sutton has averaged 4.4 yards per carry on the young season, though he has only been able to get into the end zone once on the ground so far.
Montreal's defense has been on the field quite a bit this year, so it's not surprising to see them having multiple players near the top of the league in tackles. Linebacker Chris Ackie is currently second in the league in tackles with 36, while Henoc Muamba isn't too far behind him with 31 total tackles. Lineman Jamaal Westerman has 19 tackles and leads the team with three sacks.
