BC Lions Stats
BC is currently right there in the middle of the league in scoring with 22 points per game. Their defense ranks near the top of the league, though, after only giving up 10 points in their opening week win. They also showed that quarterbacks are going to have to worry about their pressure this season after impressively picking up six team sacks in that win over Montreal a couple of weeks ago.
As expected, the Lions are depending heavily on quarterback Jonathon Jennings so far this season. Through one game, he has completed 20 of 24 passes, but he hasn't thrown a touchdown pass yet and he's been picked off twice. He is also the team's leading rusher with 57 rushing yards on just nine carries. Shaquille Johnson has caught the only two passes that have come his way this year for 46 yards and a one touchdown Bryan Burnham has been the most targeted receiver, but he he's only been able to pick up 38 receiving yards.
BC's defense has been led by new defensive back Garry Peters, who currently has four tackles and one interception. Linebacker Soloman Elimimian and defensive back Davon Coleman are currently tied for the team lead in tackles with seven. New free agent pickup Otha Foster III has also had a good start to his campaign by picking up five total tackles and one sack.
Edmonton Eskimos Stats
Edmonton has had one of the top offensive teams in the league through its first two games this year. They are third in the league in points with 54, they top the league in passing yards, and they have only allowed two sacks. Their defense is creating turnovers, but the team currently sits near the bottom of the league in points allowed with 68.
Veteran quarterback Mike Reilly has unsurprisingly once again been Edmonton's best player, throwing for 694 yards through two games with three TD passes. Reilly has also been the team's most reliable ball carrier with 69 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Derel Walker has also had an excellent start to the season, catching 14 passes for a league-best 232 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensive back Nicholas Taylor has been impressive through two games for the Eskimos, picking up a sack to go along with his six tackles. Second-year linebacker Christophe Mulumba-Tshimanga is also off to a good start by leading the team in tackles with nine. Neil King, Blair Smith, and J.C. Sherritt each have an interception on the season.
