Indians at Red Sox Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 5/23/2013
The Cleveland Indians will be looking for their first win against the Boston Red Sox this season when they kick off an extended four-game Memorial Day Holiday weekend series at Fenway Park this Thursday night. Game 1 of this matchup is slated to get underway at 7:10 p.m. (ET), and it will be available for viewing on MLB Extra Innings.
Tigers at Indians Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/22/2013
Do you think the Boston Red Sox are looking at what's going on in Cleveland right now and regretting letting Manager Terry Francona go after the 2011 season? Not that John Farrell isn't doing a fine job in Beantown (Bobby Valentine certainly didn't last year), but Francona is working miracles with the Tribe as they are the hottest team in baseball and lead the American League Central over the presumed World Series-favorite Detroit Tigers.
Cubs at Pirates Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 5/21/2013
This Tuesday night at PNC Park marks the start of a three-game Central Division clash in the National League between the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. (ET), and it will be available on MLB Extra Innings.
Diamondbacks at Rockies Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/20/2013
I am pretty shocked that the Arizona Diamondbacks are still in first place in the National League West. But that's the beauty of baseball as you never know what rather no-name team will surprise. The two Los Angeles teams are loaded with superstars and bloated contracts, and both have fallen flat on their faces.
Dodgers at Braves Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/18/2013
Can Zack Greinke save the Los Angeles Dodgers' season? It's tough for any pitcher to save a season when he only takes the mound every five days. However, when you already have Clayton Kershaw atop your rotation and can slide a very good Greinke into No. 2, you feel good about winning their starts every time out. Thus, if the Dodgers can just win one of the other three starters' outings each time around, that's .600 baseball. Playing .600 baseball would lead three of the MLB divisions right now, including the Dodgers' NL West.
Blue Jays at Yankees Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/17/2013
Are the Toronto Blue Jays starting to live up to the preseason hype that saw them as the World Series favorite back in the spring? Frankly, I thought it was all a bit much that Toronto was a favorite after adding Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and a few others in the big trade with the Marlins as well as dealing for reigning NL Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey of the Mets and signing free-agent outfielder Melky Cabrera of the Giants.
Tigers at Rangers Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 5/16/2013
The Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers will get an early jump on their four-game weekend series with Game 1 scheduled for this Thursday night at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The first pitch in this American League showdown is set for 8:05 p.m. (ET), and the game will be broadcast nationally on the MLB Network.
Mets at Cardinals Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/15/2013
Unfortunately, the baseball gods weren't smiling upon fans of good pitching in this week's Mets-Cardinals four-game series at Busch Stadium. I say this because Major League Baseball purists are being deprived of seeing arguably the two most exciting young pitchers in the game face off in Mets 24-year-old right-hander Matt Harvey and Cardinals 22-year-old righty Shelby Miller.
Red Sox at Rays Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 5/14/2013
The Boston Red Sox will look to get back to their winning ways this week in a AL East matchup against the rival Tampa Bay Rays starting this Tuesday night with Game 1 of a three-game series. The first pitch from Tropicana Park is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. (ET), and the game will be available on MLB Extra Innings.
Rangers at Athletics Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/13/2013
Do you remember the last time the Texas Rangers and Oakland A's were on the same field? That would be Oct. 3, 2012, at O.co Coliseum. The A's completed a stunning three-game sweep with a 12-5 victory that won Oakland the AL West title -- a division the Rangers had led practically all season and still led by five games with 11 remaining. Oakland was 13 games behind the Rangers at one point in the season. The A's also were down 5-1 at one point in that game.
Cubs at Nationals Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/11/2013
When Theo Epstein left the Boston Red Sox for the Chicago Cubs in October 2011, he knew he had a long rebuilding process in front of him on Chicago's North Side. The Cubs had lost 91 games in that '11 season, had a barren farm system and some very onerous contracts, specifically that belonging to Alfonso Soriano.
Brewers at Reds Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/10/2013
The NL Central-rival Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds will see a lot of each other the rest of the season as Friday night's series opener at Great American Ball Park is the first of 19 meetings this year. Somewhat hard to believe they haven't played in the first six weeks or so.
Braves at Giants Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 5/9/2013
Two of the best teams in the National League will kick off an extended four-game weekend series this Thursday night when the Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants square off at AT&T Park. Game 1 is set for a 10:15 p.m. (ET) start, and it will be available on MLB Extra Innings.
Tigers at Nationals Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/8/2013
The oddsmakers at Sportsbook.ag agree that the Detroit Tigers are the World Series favorites, currently at +600. What they don't agree on is which possible opponent for the Tigers is the most likely. Currently Tigers-Braves, Tigers-Giants and Tigers-Nationals are all +1800. Atlanta, San Francisco and Washington are all at +1000 to win the World Series as well.
Cardinals at Cubs Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 5/7/2013
The St. Louis Cardinals will pay a visit to Wrigley Field this week for a quick two-game series against the NL Central Division rival Chicago Cubs starting with Game 1 this Tuesday night. This clash is set to get underway at 8:05 p.m. (ET), and it will be available on MLB Extra Innings.
Marlins at Padres Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/6/2013
It's the series we've been waiting all baseball season for: Marlins at Padres in a huge three-game set that begins Monday night at Petco Park. Yeah, not so much. But anyone can preview the big games in MLB -- it takes talent and determination to dig up relevant betting facts on two dregs of the league. Hey, this game could determine the top pick in the 2014 draft! One never knows.
Dodgers at Giants Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/3/2013
The Dodgers and Giants, arguably the biggest rivals in the National League and the co-+140 NL West favorites at Sportsbook.ag, begin a three-game series on Friday night in L.A.'s first visit of the season to AT&T Park. Neither leads the division, with San Francisco a game behind the first-place Rockies and Los Angeles in fourth and 3.5 games back.
Cardinals at Brewers Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 5/2/2013
The St. Louis Cardinals kick off an extended four-game weekend series this Thursday night when they head to Miller Park to face the Central Division rival Milwaukee Brewers. Game 1 is set to get underway at 8:10 p.m. (ET), and it will be available on MLB Extra Innings.
Astros at Yankees Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/1/2013
I'm really rather bummed out that the Houston Astros and Miami Marlins don't play this year in interleague play for the crown of worst team in baseball. At least the Marlins have Giancarlo Stanton (well, he's on the DL now); Houston might be the most no-name team in recent baseball history. Do you realize the Astros have not been favored in a game yet? The closest they have come was as essentially a “pick'em” for an April 24 home game against Seattle in which Houston won 10-3. The Astros have won two series all year, and the Mariners were the victim in both.
Red Sox at Blue Jays Picks and MLB Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 4/30/2013
The Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays will meet for the second time this season at the Rogers Centre starting this Tuesday night in the first of a three-game AL East showdown. Game 1 is slated to get underway at 7:07 p.m. (ET), and it will be available on MLB Extra Innings.
