On Friday night, Jordan Zimmermann will look to keep his hot streak going when the Washington Nationals take on the St. Louis Cardinals, who will be starting Lance Lynn.

Jordan Zimmermann pitched his first shutout of the season and the third of his career last weekend against the San Diego Padres. He pitched one of the best games in Nationals' history in that one, allowing just two hits and striking out a season-high 12 batters while walking no one. Zimmermann is now 5-2 on the year with a 3.17 ERA and he has only allowed five home runs in 76.2 innings.

Cardinals outfielder Jon Jay has done well versus Zimmermann in his career, going 7-for-15 with just two strikeouts against him. Veteran Matt Holliday is the only player on St. Louis who has hit a home run off of the right-hander.

Lance Lynn lost his second consecutive game last Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays after pitching five innings and allowing two earned runs. He gave up six hits in that game and walked four while striking out six. Lynn's record is now 6-4 this season and he has a solid 3.49 ERA to go along with it.

Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond has faced Lynn six times and he has three hits with a double and two RBI against him. Danny Espinosa is 3-for-5 against the big right-hander with two home runs and four RBI.
