Doug Fister will be going for his sixth consecutive win for the Washington Nationals when he faces off against Jaime Garcia and the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.

On Tuesday, Doug Fister was able to win his fifth game of the year by defeating the San Francisco Giants on the road. He pitched seven scoreless innings in that start and gave up eight hits while striking out three and walking just one. This season, Fister is 5-1 with a 2.68 through 43.2 innings and he has only walked a total of three batters in 43.2 innings of work.

Mark Ellis has gone up against Fister more than any of the other Cardinals and is 6-for-21 against him with three RBI and two strikeouts. Outfielder Peter Bourjos has four hits in eight at-bats against the right-hander with a double and an RBI.

In Jaime Garcia's fifth start of the season last Sunday, he went seven scoreless innings against the Toronto Blue Jays on the road and picked up his second win. He allowed just three hits in that outing and walked three while striking out four. He has struck out a total of 26 batters this year through 31.2 innings and he has only walked three.

Veteran outfielder Jayson Werth has been able to get a double and a home run off of Garcia in his career, but he is just 4-for-15 overall against him with two strikeouts.
