Thursday afternoon, the Washington Nationals and Blake Treinen will face the San Francisco Giants and Tim Hudson.  Treinen makes his 4th start and 8th appearance as Hudson makes his 13th start. 

Blake Treinen added his 2nd straight no-decision in his last start and that did nothing to change his 0 - 2 record as his ERA rose slightly to 1.78. The last time out, Treinen allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 6.0 innings as he struck out a batter without issuing a walk. The rookie right-hander pitched well in the Minors before getting called up and it was thought that he would provide a solid replacement for injured starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez.  But it hasn’t turned out that way so far. 

Without any experience against the Giants, Treinen will have to rely on the scouting report to help him find a way past San Francisco. 

Tim Hudson saw his record hold at 6 - 2 and his ERA rise slightly to 1.97 as he took a no-decision his last time out.  He gave up 3 runs on 9 hits in just 5 innings of work. Hudson walked 3 and struck out 5.  Just 12 starts in, Hudson has already performed better than last season when he posted a record of 8 - 7 and an ERA of 3.97 in 21 starts for the Atlanta Braves. 

In 2013, Hudson was 2 – 0 with a 0.84 ERA in 3 starts against the Nationals.  If there is a batter for him to watch out for, it would be Jayson Werth.  Werth is batting .385 with 3 home runs and 11 RBIS against Hudson.
