On Wednesday night, Tanner Roark will look to keep the momentum going from his 11-strikeout start last week when the Washington Nationals go up against Matt Cain and the San Francisco Giants.

Second-year starter Tanner Roark had one of the best starts of his career last week against the San Diego Padres and picked up his fourth win of the season. He went eight scoreless innings in that game and gave up just three hits while walking no one and striking out a season-high 11 batters. Roark is now 4-4 on the year and has given up just 63 hits in 77.1 innings of work.

No one of the Giants has gone up against Roark more than twice in their career, and Joaquin Arias and Pablo Sandoval are the only players on their team who have been able to get hits off of the right-hander.

Matt Cain pitched well enough to get a win over the New York Mets last Friday, but all he got out of the game was a no decision. He went seven innings in that start and allowed just two earned runs on three hits while striking out three and walking one. Cain just a 1-3 record this season, but he has a pretty good 3.52 ERA.

First baseman Adam LaRoche has faced Cain more than any of the other Nationals, but he only has a .214 batting average against him in 28 at-bats and he has been struck out by the right-hander seven times.
