Wednesday night, Doug Fister (12 – 4, 2.38 ERA) gets the call for the Washington Nationals as they square off against Kyle Kendrick (6 – 11, 4.93 ERA) and the Philadelphia Phillies.  It will be the 20th start of the year for Fister and the 27th for Kendrick.

Kyle Kendrick picked up his first win in nearly a month his last time out.  In the victory, Kendrick gave up 4 runs and 8 hits (including a homer) in 6.1 innings.  He walked a batter and struck out 4.   Kendrick can’t seem to keep his opponents from scoring and he has allowed 3 or more runs 8 times in his last 10 starts.  He is 3 - 3 in those 10 outings.  In 2013, Kendrick posted a record of 10 – 13 with a 4.70 ERA in 30 starts.

Last season, Kendrick was 1 – 3 with a 5.40 ERA in 5 starts against the Nationals.   This season, he is 0 – 2 in 2 starts against Washington.
