Stephen Strasburg will attempt to win his eighth game of the year when he and the Washington Nationals face veteran left-hander Cole Hamels and the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday night.

Right-hander Stephen Strasburg had a very good outing against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, but he had to settle for the no decision as the Orioles went on to win the game 8-2. He gave up just two runs on four hits in seven innings of work that day, and he struck out nine batters without walking anyone. Strasburg has a 7-6 record for the Nats this season and he has struck out 140 batters in 119.1 innings.

Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has only two hits in his 24 at-bats against Strasburg with a home run and 11 strikeouts. Veteran outfielder Marlon Byrd is 4-for-12 against him with a double, a home run and four RBI.

In his last start, left-hander Cole Hamels pitched 6.2 innings against the Milwaukee Brewers and came away with his third win of the season. He gave up two runs (one earned) in that game and walked two batters while striking out seven. Hamels only has a 3-5 record on the year, but he has has an excellent 2.87 ERA.

Scott Hairston may find himself in the lineup for the Nats on Saturday because he is 15-for-38 against Hamels in his career with five doubles, five home runs and nine RBI.
