Doug Fister will make his long-awaited debut for the Washington Nationals on Friday and will go up against Tommy Milone and the Oakland Athletics.

Doug Fister injured his lat just a few months after being traded to the Nats from the Detroit Tigers, but he's now fully healed and ready to bolster their rotation. He is coming off of a very good season with Detroit in which he won 14 games and posted a 3.67 ERA. He also gave up just 14 home runs in 208.2 innings.

Fister has faced Daric Barton more than any other Athletics' player, and its been a pretty even battle with Barton going 7-for-26 against him with a double and two RBI. Coco Crisp is 6-for-15 against the right-hander with two triples, while Alberto Callaspo has six hits, including a home run, in 17 at-bats against him.

Tommy Milone had his worst start of the season last Saturday when he went just four innings against the Boston Red Sox and gave up six earned runs. Three of the six hits against him were home runs and he walked four batters in the outing. His ERA is now up to 5.86 on the year and he is giving up over 10 hits per nine innings.

Nats' outfielder Denard Span is 2-for-3 against Milone in his career. No one on Washington has faced the lefty more than three times.
