Right-hander Tanner Roark will be given the start for the Washington Nationals on Saturday night and he will face Sonny Gray and the Oakland Athletics.

Tanner Roark did not pitch well in his start against the Philadelphia Phillies a week ago and picked up his first loss of the season. He got through just four innings in the game and gave up a season-high seven runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking one. His ERA is now up to 4.17, but he has struck out 31 batters in 36.2 innings this season.

The A's have never faced Roark, but they can expect to see a lot of his 91-92 mph fastball with a few sliders and his highly-rated 73 mph curveballs mixed in.

Sonny Gray had yet another good start for the A's against the Red Sox a week ago, but he finished with a no decision. He was able to go six innings in that game and gave up just two runs on six hits while striking out three and walking two. His 1.91 ERA is one of the best in the American League and he has given up just 39 hits in 47 innings.

Outfielder Nate McLouth and catcher Jose Lobaton are the only two Nats who have faced Gray, and they are a combined 2-for-5 with two doubles against him.
