Gio Gonzalez will take the mound for the Washington Nationals in the second of a three-game series against Bartolo Colon and the New York Mets. Gonzalez didn't have a bad season in 2013 by any means, but he wasn't able to match his 21-win dominance in 2012. He was still able to achieve an 8.8 K/9 rate and had a 3.36 ERA in 195.2 innings pitched. Gio was 2-0 against the Mets last season and will be looking to add on to that success in his first start of the season.

David Wright is one of just a few New York players who has had any type of success in his career against Gonzalez. The third baseman has a .308 average against the lefty with a double, a triple and a home run.

Bartolo Colon will be entering his 17th Major League season and his first with the Mets. As a 40-year-old in 2013, Colon had one of the best years of his career. He won 18 games and has a fantastic 2.65 ERA on his way to getting the 6th-most votes in the AL Cy Young voting. He also led the AL with three shutouts.

The Nationals are in the NL and have a young team, so many of their players have not faced Colon yet. One of the few who has is Nate McLouth, who has two hits against him in three career plate appearances.
