The Marlins and Tom Koehler (1-1) aim to remedy a recent skid as they welcome Stephen Strasburg (1-1) and Washington to town Tuesday night. Strasburg makes his 4th start of the year and looks to answer whether he's turned the corner or just had a fluke outing against the Marlins last time out. The 25-year-old right hander has an ERA of 4.24 on the year after surrendering 7 runs in just 10.1 innings through his 1st two starts. Game 3 was much better after shutting down Miami to just 1 ER and 3 hits over 6.2 innings on April 10th for his first win of the season.
Strasburg has faced the Marlins more than any other team in his career, posting a 7-3 record over 15 starts. He has posted a 3.69 ERA over that span and has fanned 80 batters in 78 IP. Miami 1B Garrett Jones has been particularly baffled by Strasburg, striking out 9 times in 15 AB while Giancarlo Stanton does have 2 HR in his 24 AB and a .333 average.
Koehler has gone 6 innings in both of his starts this season, allowing just 2 runs both times but still stuck with a 1-1 record. He struck out 6 Washington batters his last time out on April 10th but the Miami bullpen gave up 5 runs in the 8th to put any chance of victory out of reach.
The 27-year-old Koehler has faced Washington 3 times in his career but has tasted victory just once. The right-hander has given up 10 runs in 17 innings even though the current Marlins have hit under .300 against the pitcher. The damage is mostly due to 6 players failing to get a hit yet in a limited 13 AB. Scott Hairston (.333), Adam LaRoche (.429), Jayson Werth (.375), and Ryan Zimmerman (.500) have all had success in extended appearances against Koehler.
