On Saturday night, Blake Treinen will get the start for the Washington Nationals in Game 2 of their doubleheader against the Chicago Cubs, who will have Jeff Samardzija on the mound for them.

Blake Treinen's last Major League start came back on June 12 when he took the loss against the San Francisco Giants. He pitched five innings in that outing and allowed two earned runs on five hits while walking two batters and striking out two. Treinen has 30.1 innings pitched for the Nats this season and he has an 0-3 record with a solid 2.08 ERA and he has yet to give up a home run.

The Cubs will be seeing Treinen in person for the first time on Saturday night. He has held right-handed hitters to a .262 batting average so far, while left-handed hitters have a .305 average against him.

Cubs ace Jeff Samardzija had a solid outing against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday, but once against he got little help from his offense and he ended up with a no decision for his efforts. He pitched six strong innings in that game and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out seven and walking two. He has just a 2-6 record, but he also has a 2.53 ERA and he has only given up five home runs in 103 innings of work.

Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche is 5-for-15 against Samardzija with two home runs and three RBI.
