Stephen Strasburg (8-9) is coming off of his best start of the season and will look to use that momentum when he and the Washington Nationals take on Ervin Santana (10-6) and the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.

On Sunday, Stephen Strasburg had a very good outing against the Philadelphia Phillies at home and ended up with the victory. He pitched seven innings in that start and allowed no runs on three hits while striking out 10 batters and walking just one. His ERA is now down to 3.39 and he has struck out 177 batters in 151.1 innings of work.

One player on the Braves who Strasburg has never been good against is first baseman Freddie Freeman, who is 9-for-20 against him with a double, two home runs and seven RBI.

Ervin Santana had a pretty good start against the San Diego Padres last Saturday, but he had to settle for just a no decision. He allowed just two runs in 6.2 innings that day and struck out six batters while walking four. He has only given up nine home runs on 138 innings on the mound this season and he currently has a 3.59 ERA.

Nationals outfielder Denard Span has 10 hits in 27 at-bats against Santana in his career with two doubles, a home run and six RBI. Jayson Werth is just 3-for-13 against Santana with a solo home run and six strikeouts.
