Monday night, the Washington Nationals and Jordan Zimmerman will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks and Josh Collmenter.  Zimmerman will be making his 8th start of the season as Collmenter makes his 6th start and 10th appearance.

Jordan Zimmerman went just 4 innings in his last start due to a rain delay but his numbers were still good.  He allowed just 5 hits without a run or a walk as he struck out 3.   The no decision left his record at 2 – 1 with a 2.92 ERA.   Last season, Zimmerman was 19 – 9 with a 3.25 ERA in 32 starts.

In 2013, Zimmerman won his only start against the Diamondbacks with a 7 inning, 2 run and 3 hit performance.   Overall, Zimmerman has solid numbers against Arizona and should have no problem with their lineup.

Josh Collmenter pitched to his 2nd straight no decision in his last start and that left his record at 1 – 2 as his ERA dropped slightly to 3.44.  In his last outing, Collmenter surrendered 5 runs on 8 hits in 5.2 innings with a walk and 3 strikeouts.  He threw 99 pitches in just 5.2 innings and that contributed to his short night.  Last season, Collmenter was 5 – 5 with a 3.13 ERA in 49 relief appearances. 

In 2013, Collmenter was 1 – 0 in 2 relief appearances against the Nationals.  He didn’t allow any runs and only gave up 2 hits and a walk in 2 innings of work.   In his career, the Nationals are only batting .188 against Collmenter.
