R.A. Dickey will hope to continue his recent string of strong starts when he and the Toronto Blue Jays go up against Nick Martinez and the Texas Rangers.

R.A. Dickey was able to win his second consecutive game last Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians and improved his record to 4-3. He pitched six innings in that outing and gave up just two runs on four hits while walking two and striking out six. His ERA is now down to 4.53 on the season, but he still has a 4.5 BB/9 rate, which is much higher than it was last season.

Toronto outfielder Alex Rios has just four hits in 15 at-bats against Dickey, but two of those hits were home runs. Shin-Soo Choo is 3-for-6 against him with a double and two walks.

Nick Martinez will make his first start since back on April 22 after spending nearly a month coming out of the bullpen for the Rangers. He has pitched well since those early starts and now has a 2.38 ERA, but he has just 11 strikeouts through 22.2 innings and has walked 11. Even though his average fastball is averaging just 91 mph, it has been a valuable pitch for him thanks to the movement that he gets on it.

This will be the first time that any of the current Blue Jays will face Martinez.
