Tuesday night, the Toronto Blue Jays and Marcus Stroman will square off against the New York Yankees and Masahiro Tanaka.  Stroman will be making his 4th start and 9th appearance as Tanaka makes his 14th start.

Marcus Stroman took his 1st loss of the season his last time out and that lowered his record to 3 - 1 with a 5.18 ERA.  In that outing, Stroman pitched 6 innings and allowed 3 runs on 9 hits (including a home run).  He didn’t issue any walks as he struck out 4.  Prior to the loss, Stroman had won his previous 2 starts and he is giving the Blue Jays some decent innings of work in his rookie season.  Before coming up to the Big Leagues, Stroman was 2 - 4 with a 3.03 ERA in 7 starts for Toronto’s Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo. 

The rookie right-hander has never faced the Yankees but with the help of a good scouting report and some advice from the rest of the pitching staff, Stroman should be able to come up with a plan to handle New York. 

Masahiro Tanaka went the distance in his last outing and the win boosted his record to 10 – 1 with a 2.02 ERA.  In his 2nd complete game of the season, Tanaka allowed just 2 runs on 6 hits (including a home run).  He walked just 1 batter as he struck out 11.  The Japanese import is leading the American League in wins and ERA and could end up turning in one of the best seasons any pitcher has ever had.

Tanaka made his Major League debut against the Blue Jays and he overpowered them with a 7 inning effort where he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (including a homer) without any walks and 8 strikeouts.
