Wednesday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays will send R.A. Dickey (9 - 12, 3.95 ERA) to the hill to take on the Milwaukee Brewers and Jimmy Nelson (2 - 3, 3.86 ERA).  Dickey makes his 27th start as Nelson makes his 8th.

R.A. Dickey took the hard luck loss in his last start.  In 6 innings of work, Dickey allowed 2 runs and 7 hits (including a homer) as he walked 4 and struck out 2.  He wasn’t his best but 2 runs wouldn’t have been that bad if his offense hadn’t failed to score. Dickey is just 3 - 6 in his last 10 trips to the mound.  Last season, Dickey posted a 14 -13 record with a 4.21 ERA in 34 starts.

In 2013, Dickey didn’t face the Brewers but he has experience against the lineup.  Milwaukee is batting .250 against the knuckleballer with 21 hits, 3 home runs and 7 RBI in 84 at-bats.

Jimmy Nelson didn’t get the decision in his last start despite a fine outing from the young righty.  Nelson pitched 6 innings and allowed 2 runs and 6 hits.  He struck out 4 while walking 1.  Although he has 2 losses, only one of them was really his fault as he got lit up for 8 runs in 4.1 innings.  Before getting the call, he was 5 – 1 with a 1.71 ERA in 9 starts at Triple-A. 

Nelson pitched in 4 games last season for the Brewers but none of those appearances was against the Blue Jays. But he has seen one of the Blue Jays before.  Dioner Navarro is 0 for 1 against Nelson with a strikeout.
