Friday night, the Toronto Blue Jays will give the ball to Drew Hutchison as they square off against the Baltimore Orioles and Ubaldo Jimenez.  Both pitchers will be making their 14th starts of the season.

Drew Hutchison evened his record to 4 - 4 with a 3.96 ERA after taking the loss in his last start.  In that outing, Hutchison was touched up for 5 runs on 6 hits (including 2 home runs) in just 3 innings of work.  He walked a batter and struck out 1.  Hutchison appears to be getting back into form in his first season since 2012 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

In his last season (2012) Hutchison went 5 - 3 with a 4.60 ERA in 11 starts.  He started 2 games against the Orioles and came away with a 1 - 0 record and a 1.50 ERA. This season, Hutchison has 2 no-decisions against Baltimore after allowing just 2 runs on 10 hits (including a home run) in 12 innings with 3 walks and 14 strikeouts.

Ubaldo Jimenez was torched in his last outing and that dropped his record to 2 – 7 with an ERA of 5.01.  In just 2.1 innings, Jimenez surrendered 6 runs on 2 hits (including a grand slam home run) while walking 5 and striking out just 2.  It was easily his worst outing of the season. In 2013, Jimenez was much better as he compiled a record of 13 – 9 with an ERA of 3.30 in 32 starts for the Cleveland Indians. 

Last season, Jimenez was 1 – 0 with a 0.75 ERA in 2 starts against the Blue Jays.  This season, Jimenez took a loss to Toronto after allowing 5 runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings.
