Saturday night the Toronto Blue Jays will send Drew Hutchison to face the Baltimore Orioles and Chris Tillman.  Each pitcher will be making their third starts of the year. 

Drew Hutchison had a short night of work in his last start.  He lasted just 3.1 innings after giving up 6 runs on 6 hits (including a home run) while striking out 6 and walking 3.  After a shutout performance in his first start, his second start ballooned his ERA to 6.23.  After going 5 – 3 in 11 starts for the Blue Jays in 2012, Hutchison missed the 2013 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.  

Despite missing a whole season, he still has some experience against many of the Baltimore Orioles.   As a whole, the Orioles are only batting .188 against Hutchison.  Nick Markakis has the most success, with 3 hits in 6 at-bats. 

Chris Tillman has looked good in his first two starts.  In his last outing, he gave up a run on 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and a walk in 8.1 innings.  The only blemish on the box score was that the 1 run came off a solo homer.  If Tillman keeps up the solid performances, he could better his results of last season where he compiled a record of 16 – 7 in 33 starts with an ERA of 3.71.

Tillman faced the Blue Jays five times in 2013 and earned a record of 2 – 1 with an ERA of 3.31.  Toronto got 33 hits and 12 runs in those starts against Tillman.  If there is a Blue Jay for Tillman to watch out for it is Colby Rasmus.  Rasmus has a .429 average with 6 hits (including 2 home runs) and 4 RBIs against Tillman.
