Tuesday night, Drew Hutchison (10 - 11, 4.36 ERA) takes the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays as they take on Ubaldo Jimenez (4 – 9, 4.96 ERA) and the Baltimore Orioles.  Hutchison makes his 30th start as Jimenez makes his 21st start and 23rd appearance.

Drew Hutchison was sharp in his last outing and he came away with a victory.  In 6.1 innings of work, Hutchison allowed a run (on a solo homer) and 4 hits as he walked a batter and struck out 10.  The 10 strikeouts matched a season-high.   The home run was the first surrendered by Hutchison in nearly a month.  Hutchison has been consistent in recent outings but in his last 10 starts he is just 4 – 3.    He missed most of the 2013 season recovering from Tommy John surgery.

In 4 starts against the Orioles this season, Hutchison is 2 -0.

Ubaldo Jimenez will come out of the bullpen to make this start.  His last appearance was a disaster after he surrendered 3 runs on 1 hit in 0.1 innings.  He walked 3 and struck out 1 after facing just 5 batters and throwing 23 pitches.  But he didn’t factor into the decision and that appearance was back on August 31st.  The hope is that he will shake off that poor performance for this start.  After a few stints on the disabled list, Jimenez is just 2 -3 in his last 10 appearances.   Last season, he posted a record of 13 – 9 with a 3.30 ERA in 32 starts for the Cleveland Indians.

In 2013, Jimenez went 1 - 0 with a 0.75 ERA in 2 starts against the Blue Jays.  This season, he is 0 – 2 in 2 starts against Toronto.
