The American League West will see two of its teams meet at Safeco Field Friday night when the Texas Rangers visit the Seattle Mariners. The Rangers will be led into this game by starting pitcher Robbie Ross Jr., while the home team will go with Roenis Elias. Both these young left handed pitchers have something to prove in this game.

Ross has been incredible in his brief Major League Baseball career. He made 123 appearances out of the bullpen in his first 2 seasons and opened the 2014 season in the starting rotation. He has impressed all of baseball thus far, going 1-1 with a 2.31 ERA with just 6 earned runs allowed and 21 strikeouts. He has allowed just 8 free passes, which is something any fan will want to see from a young pitcher. In his career against the current Seattle roster, he has allowed 16 hits in 62 at-bats with just 1 home run allowed (Kyle Seager).

The rookie from Cuba has made 4 starts this season and has pitched well for the Mariners. He has given up 8 earned runs on 19 hits and 11 walks in 22 1/3 innings with 15 strikeouts. He is just 1-2 with a 3.22 ERA, but aside for his last start where he allowed 4 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings, has deserved much more than he has gotten this season.
