On Sunday, youngster Nick Martinez will take the mound for the Texas Rangers and will have to go up against Seattle Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma.

Rookie starter Nick Martinez had easily the worst start of his young career when he went just two innings against the Cleveland Indians on Monday and allowed eight earned runs on six hits. He walked three batters and gave up two home runs in that game while striking out just one. Through a dozen starts Martinez has a 1-3 record with a 4.63 ERA and he has walked more batters than he has struck out.

The Rangers will be going up against Martinez for the first time on Sunday, but their left-handed hitters are probably looking forward to the matchup. This season, Martinez has given up six home runs to left-handed hitters and they are hitting .337 against him.

On Tuesday, Hisashi Iwakuma pitched pretty well against the New York Yankees, but he ended up taking his third loss of the season in that game. He allowed three runs on seven hits in that outing while striking out five and walking two. Through 58 innings this year, Iwakuma has struck out 41 batters and has a solid 2.79 ERA.

Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has a .400 batting average against Iwakuma through 25 at-bats with three home runs and five RBI.
