Texas Rangers rookie Nick Martinez (3-9) will try to win his third fourth game in five August starts on Monday night when he takes on Roenis Elias (9-10) and the Seattle Mariners.

Nick Martinez was able to pick up his third win of the year last week when he beat the Miami Marlins on the road. He gave up two runs in six innings of work that day while walking two batters and striking out seven. Martinez still has a very high 5.13 ERA this year and he has walked 3.9 batters per nine innings.

Mariners outfielder Austin Jackson has two hits in his five at-bats against Martinez with two RBI and no strikeouts. Catcher Mike Zunino is 0-for-3 against him with two strikeouts in his career.

Rookie Roenis Elias could only make it through four innings in his outing against the Philadelphia Phillies last week and he ended up taking the loss. He allowed one run on three hits in that start and walked a season-high six batters while striking out four. Elias has struck out 126 batters in 138.2 innings this season and he now has a 4.09 ERA.

Rangers outfielder Alex Rios has two hits in five at-bats against Elias in his career with a double and a walk. Third baseman Adrian Beltre is 1-for-3 against him with a double and an RBI.
