Second-year starter Nick Tepesch (4-10), who has lost two straight games, will make the start for the Texas Rangers when they take on Oakland Athletics left-hander Scott Kazmir (14-8) on Tuesday night.

Nick Tepesch had a rough outing against the Los Angeles Angels at home last week and ended up suffering his 10th loss of the year. He went 4.2 innings in that start and gave up three runs on 10 base hits while walking two batters and striking out two. Tepesch now has a 4.47 ERA on the year and he has given up 114 hits in his 108.2 innings on the mound this season.

A's All-Star Josh Donaldson is 3-for-8 against Tepesch in his career with a walk, a double and three RBI. Veteran outfielder Coco Crisp is just 1-for-8 against him with no walks and a strikeout.

Scott Kazmir pitched a complete game against the Chicago White Sox last Thursday, but he ended up taking the loss after getting no run support from his offense. He went eight innings in that game and allowed just one run on four hits while walking one batter and striking out seven. He now has a 3.32 ERA on the year and has only given up 147 hits in 173.2 innings.

Rangers outfielder Alex Rios is 11-for-49 against Kazmir in his career with three doubles, two triples and a home run. Catcher J.P. Arencibia is 0-for-3 against him with no walks and two strikeouts.
