Nine-game winner Yu Darvish and the Texas Rangers will be taking on right-hander David Phelps and the New York Yankees on Wednesday night.

Last Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays, Yu Darvish matched his season-high in strikeouts with 12 and ended up winning his ninth game of the year. He went 6.2 innings in that start and gave up just one run on five hits while walking three batters. He is now 9-5 on the year with a 2.88 ERA and he has struck out 154 batters in 122 innings of work.

Veteran outfielder Ichiro Suzuki has had the most success against Darvish of all of the Yankees players by going 7-for-17 against him with a double, a triple and two RBI.

Last week, David Phelps pitched pretty well against the Cincinnati Reds at home and came away with his fourth win of the season. He went 6.1 innings in that game and gave up three runs (two earned) while striking out seven batters and walking just one. Phelps has a 4-4 record with a 3.87 ERA this season for the Yankees and he has struck out 83 batters in 95.1 innings.

Rangers catcher J.P. Arencibia has just one hits against Phelps in nine at-bats with a home run and four strikeouts. Shortstop Elvis Andrus has two hits in his three at-bats versus Phelps with no strikeouts.
