Texas Rangers starter Miles Mikolas (1-5) will go for his first win in nearly a month on Tuesday night when he take son Jarred Cosart (1-1) and the Miami Marlins.

Big right-hander Miles Mikolas had his worst start of the season last week against the Tampa Bay Rays and suffered his fifth loss of the year. He allowed a season-high 10 earned runs in six innings of work that day while walking two batters and striking out three. Through eight starts, Mikolas has a 7.71 ERA for the Rangers and has given up 153 hits in 44.1 innings.

Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is 1-for-1 against Mikolas in his career with a solo home run. Reed Johnson and Garrett Jones are the only other two Marlins who have faced Mikolas and are both 0-for-1 against him.

Jarred Cosart made his second start for the Marlins last Tuesday and ended up beating the St. Louis Cardinals at home. He pitched seven scoreless innings in that game and allowed three hits while walking one and striking out three. Cosart now has a 4.27 ERA after that win and he has only given up seven home runs in 128.2 innings on the mound.

Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has four hits in his six plate appearances against Cosart with two doubles, two home runs and four RBI. Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is just 1-for-6 against him with five strikeouts.
