Veteran left-hander Joe Saunders will try to get his first win of the season when the Texas Rangers face Hector Santiago and the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night.

Last Saturday, Joe Saunders pitched pretty well against the Seattle Mariners on the road, but he ended up taking his third no decision in five starts. He gave up two runs on eight hits in six innings of work in that start while striking out three and waking zero. On the season, Saunders is 0-2 with a 3.46 ERA, but he has only gotten 2.20 runs per nine innings from his offense in his starts.

Veteran Raul Ibanez has done well against Saunders over the years, going 8-for-23 with a double, two home runs and six RBI. All-Star outfielder Mike Trout has just two hits in 12 at-bats against the lefty.

26-year-old starter Hector Santiago is now 0-7 on the season after picking up yet another loss on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves on the road. He pitched 5.1 innings in that start and allowed four runs while walking two and striking out four. Santiago has a 4.44 ERA through 48.2 innings this year and he has eight strikeouts per nine innings.

Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus has just two hits in 10 at-bats against Santiago with no extra-base hits and two strikeouts. Shin-Soo Choo is 3-for-10 against him with a solo home run.
