Big right-hander Miles Mikolas (1-4) will be on the mound for the Texas Rangers when they face Brett Oberholtzer (4-7) and the Houston Astros on Friday night.

Last Saturday, Miles Mikolas lost for the second game in a row when he was defeated by the Cleveland Indians on the road. He did pitch pretty well in that game, though, by going seven innings and giving up just two earned runs while walking two batters and striking out six. Mikolas currently has a very high 7.29 ERA through six starts and he has given up 40 hits in 33.1 innings.

Astros rookie first baseman Jon Singleton has two hits in his three at-bats against Mikolas with a home run and three RBI. Carlos Corporan is 1-for-2 against him with an RBI.

Second-year starter Brett Oberholtzer won his second consecutive game last weekend when he was able to beat the Toronto Blue Jays at home. He made it through seven innings in that start and allowed two runs on six base hits while walking one batter and striking out five. He currently owns a 4.17 ERA on the year and he has already given up 104 hits in 90.2 innings of work.

Rangers outfielder Leonys Martin has gone up against Oberholtzer more than any of his teammates, but he is just 2-for-8 against him with an RBI and a strikeout. Shortstop Elvis Andrus is 0-for-7 against Oberholtzer with no walks and four strikeouts.
